Join MycoDAOMycoDAO is the first BioDAO to use both Bitcoin and Solana for decentralized science (DeSci) funding, revolutionizing mycology. Bitcoin secures research data, while Solana enables fast, low-cost transactions for funding and governance. Through the MYCO token, the community can support fungal research, bioactive compound discovery, and environmental applications. MycoDAO’s LAB-IN-A-BOX initiative brings mobile labs to researchers worldwide, making mycology more accessible and collaborative.
What is a DAO?
As a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), MycoDAO is a collective governed by its members through blockchain-based, token-weighted voting. This open, democratic structure empowers participants to have a direct role in shaping the organization’s direction, and allows community-based projects the opportunity to unlock much needed funding and support.
Why is it so great?
A DAO democratizes decision-making, enabling transparent governance and empowering all members to influence critical decisions. It allows communities, including researchers and citizen scientists, to collaboratively fund and accelerate innovation without traditional hierarchical constraints.

The MycoDAO Operating Model
Council Members
The council constitutes the structural nucleus of MycoDAO’s governance model, imparting strategic oversight, ensuring project congruence with organizational objectives, and providing fiduciary guidance.
The council comprises individuals elected based on demonstrated expertise in mycology, environmental sustainability, blockchain governance, and community development. Council members are democratically appointed through an annual voting cycle facilitated by MYCO token holders, with eligibility extended to all token participants. This ensures equitable representation and rotational leadership.
MycoDAO Community
MycoDAO espouses an open-access proposal submission paradigm, empowering community stakeholders to initiate and shape project trajectories.
Token holders may submit proposals via the MycoDAO governance portal, detailing project objectives, anticipated outcomes, and requisite funding. Proposals are subjected to a communal review phase, fostering iterative feedback and allowing for adaptive refinements. Proposals that successfully navigate the review stage are escalated for a formalized vote by MYCO token holders. Upon approval, financial disbursements are executed from the DAO treasury to facilitate project commencement.
Advisory Consortium
A dynamic advisory consortium initiated by utilizing pioneering technology companies—including Mycosoft, 7ensor, Oxford Nanopore, Tecan, and Thermo-Fisher—specializes in creating advanced tools to support mycological research.
This body fosters robust relationships with leading mycology institutions such as Fungi Perfecti, North American Mycological Association, Mycological Society of America, International Mycological Association, Fungal Diversity Survey, and the Fungi Foundation.
By integrating expertise from academia, and aligning strategically with government funding agencies like National Science Foundation and Department Of Defense / Department Of Interior, the consortium provides specialized insights and advisory support, assessing the scientific and commercial viability of fungal IP and research projects.
A robust ecosystem supporting mycological breakthroughs
MycoDAO fosters a robust ecosystem designed to catalyze breakthroughs in mycological science by strategically connecting laboratories, mushroom farms, mycological societies, and tech companies through decentralized, blockchain-enabled collaboration. At the heart of this alliance is the MYCO token, a decentralized financial mechanism that indirectly fuels and funds collaborative operations, offering participating entities both autonomy and tangible, community-based incentives.
Labs benefit from shared resources like Mycosoft’s LAB-IN-A-BOX facilities, equipped with advanced tools for DNA sequencing, bioremediation research, and bioinformatics analytics, fostering innovative fungal discoveries and applications. Mushroom farms and citizen scientists contribute fungal specimens and ecological data through incentivized initiatives like the Myco App, enriching a collective fungal biobank that serves as a valuable global resource. .
Mycological societies and academic institutions, empowered by annual funding and community-driven governance, help advance education, awareness, and field research, thus ensuring widespread, meaningful involvement. The result is a self-sustaining, independent yet interdependent community where incentives are aligned with scientific, environmental, and economic outcomes, driving innovation while preserving each entity's autonomy within this new, synergistic mycological frontier.
