Our Projects

MycoDAO funds groundbreaking research in fungi, yeast, mold, and mycelium. We support visionary projects that drive biotech innovation, environmental restoration, and sustainable materials, ensuring bold ideas have the resources to thrive. By connecting researchers, entrepreneurs, and experts, we are pushing the boundaries of fungal science, creating lasting solutions for the planet and society. If you’re working on a projct that meets these criteria, we’d love to hear about it.

Myco App & MycoDEX

Meet your Real-World Fungal Pokédex, designed to turn every nature walk into an exciting fungal safari! Inspired by the concept of a real-life Pokédex from Pokémon, the Mycodex device gamifies mushroom exploration so that anyone, anywhere, can become a citizen mycologist.

NAMA Scholarships

MycoDAO is committed to nurturing the next generation of mycological scientists by providing annual scholarships to all 80 mycological societies affiliated with the North American Mycological Association (NAMA). These societies, comprising over 15,000 passionate amateur mycologists, are crucial hubs of fungal education, research, and community engagement.

Lab-In-A-Box

The Lab-In-A-Box initiative by MycoDAO introduces a groundbreaking franchise model designed to democratize fungal science and biotechnology. These mobile, modular laboratories provide communities, researchers, and educational institutions with essential tools—including DNA sequencing, culturing flowhoods, microscopy, automated fungal cultivation, and advanced tissue storage.

Project Oyster

We train Pink Oyster Mushrooms to become Salt-Tolerant, so they can survive in the Tijuana Estuary to bioremediate the Tijuana Sewage & Contamination now seeping into the soil, estuary, and ocean. The Tijuana Estuary project is a pilot initiative using trained pink oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus djamor) to clean pollutants and heavy metals from coastal environments. This project addresses environmental degradation while demonstrating the potential of fungal bioremediation.

Our goals: Engineering an equitable future in mycology

1

Contributing Economic Value

MycoDAO unlocks fungi's untapped economic potential by decentralizing funding for innovative research, biotech startups, and intellectual property development. Leveraging Bitcoin, Solana & other Crypto technology, our community-driven model equitably distributes governance, enabling global contributors to share in decisions & benefits from discoveries like fungal-based pharmaceuticals and sustainable materials. Through tokenized ecosystems and partnerships, MycoDAO positions fungi as vital drivers of the bioeconomy, creating new markets and sustainable growth

2

Reducing Pollution

MycoDAO spearheads groundbreaking bioremediation projects, utilizing fungi—especially oyster mushrooms—to naturally detoxify polluted environments like the heavily contaminated Tijuana Estuary. By training fungi to degrade pollutants such as hydrocarbons, heavy metals, and plastics in high-salinity coastal conditions, we offer a scalable, nature-based solution for ecological restoration. Our bioremediation initiatives not only restore biodiversity but also enhance local community health, demonstrating fungi's profound capability to heal damaged ecosystems sustainably

3

Budding Local Labs

MycoDAO’s innovative LAB-IN-A-BOX initiative deploys fully autonomous, solar-powered mobile laboratories that provide advanced mycological research capabilities to communities worldwide. Equipped with state-of-the-art DNA sequencing, automated culturing, and bioinformatics tools, these modular labs empower citizen scientists, universities, and researchers to conduct localized fungal science. By decentralizing access to advanced lab infrastructure, MycoDAO fosters global collaboration and accelerates the discovery of fungal solutions to environmental, agricultural, and medical challenge
